This residence brings a balance between nature and contemporary living in a renovation of an Art Deco style terrace. The first floor has glazed walls that leads directly to the pool. This pool with a garden near by separates house for two pieces and is a perfect place to relax and spent time with friends and family. The entire second floor in the main section of the house is allocated for a master bedroom/study space with an en suite bathroom. The interior is done in minimalist style with modern materials and hidden TV and music appliances.

The Napa River House is located on a site with mature oak trees and stone pathways winding down a gently sloping hill. To avoid disturbing the paths and root structure of the trees, a single footing and tube frame (inspired by a chairlift tower) will float the main living area in the oak canopy.

This wonderful timber home design by Vivian Dwyer of Dwyer Design is a wonderful wood wonder with nature at every turn. Originally built in 1960 by Daniel Liebermann (who apprenticed with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin West) the 1,000-sq.-ft. Radius House was redesigned by Dwyer with the goal of inserting modern elements into an otherwise earthy home. The renovation of this natural house design encompasses a kitchen redesign, refurbished concrete floors, wood beams, metal pipes and exposed brick walls were covered with cool, clean plaster. At the rear of the home you’ll find the master bedroom and bathing area combination, a separate powder room and dressing area. True to its name, the Radius House features a circular floor plan with living areas radiating outward. We love the fabulous stone fireplace, and the built-in bathtub beckons with its earthy luxury. No matter where you find yourself in this house, each room offers breathtaking views of the giant redwood forest outdoors. Adding to the floor-to-ceiling glass walls, a skylight at the heart of the home floods the home with natural light, giving it a warm natural glow.

This small 2300 square foot beach house in Las Arenas, 100 km south of Lima. It’s the perfect beach getaway designed in modern style with great connection between indoors and outdoors. Architects took right rectangular container and cut on some of its faces to achieve control of sunlight and some visual effects. Those effects include weightless and freedom in owners experience. This container consist of the living room connected to the terrace with the indoor pool and one more smaller container which hide all private areas. This modern house is one of those projects which were build in the beginning of the century, made its contribution to reinventing the beach architecture and became great holiday home for city-dwelling couple and three their children. From Rajiv Saini: This isn't a newly built house,yet none of the 1000 odd guests at the inaugural bash could believe it was the same structure that had stood there since the 80's.
  When we were approached by clients about 4 yrs back for this project,they almost gave us a carte blanche. They were ready to bring the house down and rebuild as they had made the most of the old house (built by the previous generation with Victorian column embellishments and a grand circular marble spiral staircase) and wanted a completely contemporary look.
 Instead of starting off with a new design,to challenge ourselves we thought why not try and work with what we have and see what we can come up with ? We gave ourselves two months to try and work on the old plans to bring them up to speed with new requirements (failing which we would have started developing plans for a new house), and at transforming the character of the house. What followed was an intense period of 'editing'- additions and deletions that eventually make up this 12,500 sq feet home.
 Additional rooms got cantilevered over existing structure ( for example the copper clad gym overlooking the front garden is a newly added cantilevered steel structure,as are the guest rooms and the steel and glass study attached to the master suite ) , redundant spaces got axed / demolished, new spaces were created wherever possible ( the new dining room was created by enclosing a part of the rear garden ) ,the grand spiral marble staircase fell a victim to the reorganizing,replaced instead by a sleek metal and stone one, in a different part of the house. The 10' diameter hole left in the sloping slab as a result of this got transformed into a skylight, and the roof got sheathed in a layer of black slate !

It is easier than ever to ‘think outside the box’ for architects these days. With the use of technology (CAD), it is now easier to efficiently describe more complex shapes and spaces and communicate these to the build. In mathematics, the Klein bottle is a certain non-orientable surface, i.e., a surface (a two-dimensional manifold) with no distinct “inner” and “outer” sides. Klein Bottle House in Mornington Peninsula, Australia, designed by McBride Charles Ryan (MCR) applies the logic of the Klein Bottle, by being a shape which folds into itself to become one continuous volume.

The Vila Nova de Cerveira House is located in northwestern Portugal. dEMM Architects projected this beautiful house to promote the relationship between interior and exterior spaces which is made possible by integrating the astonishing surroundings on a glass interior. By bringing the interior arrangement outside, the outdoor spaces promote relaxation and enjoyment of the surroundings that result in a wonderful atmosphere of a summer house design, defined by the vast openings and a swimming pool. Sited on a place offering stillness and coolness with a fresh air and green landscape, this luxury house was perfectly designed for weekend retreat place.

Eastern Design Office just sent us images of a residential and office space project which they completed in December 2009 in Takarazuka, in the Hyogo prefecture of Japan.The development is utilized as a design office for a Japanese sneaker brand, as well as the residence of the owner.  The development is built on a sloped hill of a residential district at an elevation of 330 meters.  For architectural reasons the slope of the site has not been flattened instead it has been increased resulting in two separate mounds.  The development overlooks the Osaka plain while it also has breathtaking views of the Osaka plain.

The property for this Aspen house is located along the crest of Wildcat Ridge at an elevation of 9,200 feet. The design incorporates three major elements responding to its spectacular site: a dramatic folded plate roof, an immense moss rock wall marking the division between the east and west wings of the building, and large expanses of exterior glass. The transparency of the building allows for maximum views of the surrounding mountains without competing with their scale. The design evolved by following the longitudinal parallel of the crest of the mountain with the public rooms, study, and master bedroom oriented west toward Snowmass Village. The house is two hundred feet in length. Its renewable energy source is sixty geothermal wells, such that it virtually functions independently of outside support services. The wells heat the driveway, pool, and house during the coldest winter months and cool during the summer without depleting fossil fuels.

This two-winged contemporary home on the bay in Mt Eliza offers congruent and considered interiors that have streamlined the co-ordination of services with a simple palette of colours.
The clean lines of the interiors are flooded in variations of natural and applied light sources that support the minimalist details throughout. The planning and orientation of the two wings maximised the intake of natural light.
The considered placement of light fittings and services outlets has ensured that interiors do not feel over-worked. This over-design has also been avoided through the use of understated, yet timeless materials.
Good placement of appropriately scaled furniture means the rooms feel completed and custom designed. Feature elements such as the timber and metal stairs to the master suites show the level of quality of materials throughou

In keeping with the clients desire for a strictly Vastu compliant house, the placement of spaces in the house are in synch with the plan of the Vastu Purusha Mandala (the ancient Indian science of orientation and placement)
The biggest challenge while designing the house was to arrive at a visually appealing piece of architecture from a rigid program that dictated the specific locations of various spaces. Our approach was to respond to the traditional science, extract its essence yet arrive at a fresh and innovative interpretation of the same.Thus apart from positioning the main areas of the house according to the elements – Master bedroom in the Earth zone (SW), kitchen in the Fire zone (SE), and the pool and entrance in the Water zone and Air zones (N and NE), – even positions of doors, the direction of the stairs, location of beds, wardrobes and desks and the positions of the wc’s in the bathrooms had to be in accordance with the correct energy flows. In all other respects however, the clients gave us complete aesthetic freedom.

Located in the penthouse of a concrete high-rise on Aquatic Park. The original 4-bedroom/4-bath penthouse was a rabbit's warren of confusing rooms. In our re-design, rooms were combined and uses were re-assigned to allow the occupants to take advantage of the views looking north and south and the movement of the sun through out the day.

This luxurious L’Arc Paris Restaurant, Bar and Nightclub located just across the street from the famed Arc de Triomph, the monument from which this establishment takes its name. The design of L’Arc Paris is the pride of Prospect Design, an architectural and interior design firm specializing in nightclubs, restaurants and retail.  Their design spans two opposing moods– the extravagant and refined setting of the restaurant above, and the flashy, black-and-bright nightclub below. It’s has become the place to be seen in Paris nightlife of late.

The Pipe House is a weekend get-away retreat by Butenko Vasiliy and Sergey Mahno located along the Black sea, just at the edge of the Crimean Mountains of the Ukraine. Planned as an oasis for rest and relaxation, the house has been divided into zones by opaque and translucent screens, allowing the user flexibility in shading the sun, creating privacy, and blocking off areas when entertaining guests.

Angle-Indian architects Serie have completed the Blue Frog acoustic lounge and studios in Mumbai, India. Everybody is going crazy about Mumbai's Blue Frog, opened earlier this year. It's a 1,000-square-meter complex that includes a club, restaurant, lounge, sound stage, recording studio and sound lab, all encased within the massive walls of an old warehouse in Mumbai's mill district. The Blue Frog Club interior may remind you of those delirious nights at the end-of-summer Exhibition with its midway games, roller coasters and dizzy-making rides. Or you may suddenly start channeling Queen Amidala, addressing the StarWarsian Senate from her floating pod. Luckily, Blue Frog does its dizzying job in a way that is totally stylish - not a tacky thing or overdone costume in sight. And everyone's table is definitely on level ground, although it does not appear so first.

The five-star Hilton Hotel in Bandung, Indonesia, designed in contemporary-modern style by Singapore-based architecture firm Warner Wong Design | WOW Architects, yet fused with local traditional craft.Luxurious hotels, restaurants, cafes and European boutiques were opened of which the city was dubbed as Paris of Java.
The development of the Hilton Hotel in Bandung has been described as a progressive one looking to contemporize the field of hospitality in Bandung, while combining the experience of the local aspects of Javanese culture. As a city dense and sprawling at the same time, the only natural aspects left of the city are the surrounding volcanic mountains. Attempts were made in the hotels’ design to emphasize this borrowing loosely the idea of mountain rock with a river carving out a basin in the middle.

The aim of the Coscia Day Architecture + Design studio in designing Skywave House in California, was to create a dream home with decidedly contemporary, but unmistakably not minimalist.
As the name of the house of 200 square feet, the visual inspiration of external form is that of sea wave, but the inspiration is taken from Oriental philosophy theory of Yin and Yang, where the studio play in shades of white and black.
The glass-height as well as providing continuity between indoor and outdoor is a vehicle for technological solutions and eco-friendly air-conditioning and lighting of the house.
